Eigen Hulp is a cross-border street orchestra from The Hague, the Netherlands. A colourful group of twenty musicians with shiny wind instruments and solid percussion playing world music, music from all over the world. From the Balkans to South Africa, from Surinamese kaseko to American pop music. With every now and then a French chanson, a touch of classical music and a trip to film music. Jazzy improvisations and own compositions and arrangements give their unique colour to the orchestra.

In the thirty years of its existence the orchestra performed in the Netherlands at street festivals, openings and farmer markets, and all kinds of cultural events. The orchestra performs every year at the opening of the cultural season in The Hague.

Since fifteen years the orchestra goes abroad for a week in summer. In previous years we visited almost al the countries in Europe like France, Czechia, Macedonia, Romania, Poland, Denmark etcetera. Eigen Hulp performed there in streets and on squares, in prisons and sanatoria, in homes for the elderly and on local festivals. Eigen Hulp appeared in cities like London, Berlin, Prague and - last year - Barcelona. Look here for a photographic impression of these international tours.
